GLENN HOLMES introduced our speaker Jack Reynoldson. Mr. Reynoldson is a school teacher in the Madison system and Director of the Gifted and Talented Students foundation. He has climbed a bunch of mountains and tall hills all over the world. The Matterhor, K-2, Mt. Rainier, Devil's Tower and others. He talked about, and showed slides of his “Trek” to Mt. Everest. He did not actually try to go to the top of that mountain, which is over 29,000 ft. above sea level. He did walk many miles on the lower level to Mt. Everest., eventually reaching 20,000 feet. He had great slides of the mountain, along with others in the area. They have to proceed at about 1,000 ft. additional altitude each day, and then wait a day or two to get used to the altitude. They were at 20,000 feet, as mentioned, and did not need oxygen to breathe. In Nepal, people live and work, and farm at 14,500 feet. This is higher than our highest mountain. Very good, interesting program.
