Our highway cleanup on October 22 went reasonably well. Five Lions (BECKY, PHIL, ROSS, JIM, and SCOTT) enjoyed a lovely Saturday morning and removed six bags of discarded treasure in about two hours.

At our October program meeting, our guest speaker was Barb from the League of Women Voters. Barb said she first worked with the LWV in Door County, and is now with the Dane County branch. The League was started 102 years ago, during the Suffrage movement. The Dane County branch is a strong one, and is non-partisan on candidates. They are member-driven, and vote on issues to promote. They assist in helping voter-eligible people with registration, making sure that people know where to vote and when to vote. They have a web site, VOTE411. They provide voter forums and extensive assistance to insure that all those who are eligible are able to vote. They also do book studies, issue programs, fostering communication with elected officials, lobbying on various issues (after studies are completed). Members pay $75 annual dues.

OUR NEXT MEETING will be on November 8 (please vote before coming to the meeting), and will be a business meeting, both live-in-person and virtual. However, due to scheduling restraints, the socializing at 11:30 will not be possible. The meeting will start at noon. Any member is welcome to attend, and Board members are encouraged to attend. If we do not have a quorum, any decisions will be delayed. There are a number of activities coming up in the next several months.
