OUR NEXT MEETING will be February 8. This will be a business meeting, and we have some high priority financial matters to discuss. It will be crucial that Board members attend. This will be a virtual-only meeting. http://bitly.com/MCLC-Meeting.

We had some difficulties with our last meeting. You will recall that we changed our meeting schedule from the first and third Tuesdays to the second and fourth Tuesdays, so as not to conflict with Festival's staff meeting. What we didn't realize was that Festival's meetings (corporate mandate) were every two weeks, and they have priority for the conference room (complete with all the high tech). Our alternative was either a tiny space or a large space with poor acoustics. Until we can arrive at an agreeable compromise, our meetings will be all virtual.

We did, however, have a very nice demo of both the Meet structure (a better alternative to Zoom) and Venmo (a method of dues payment that doesn't require a check, postage, or return envelope). Our own technical wizard (and District Zoom Commander) DALE had a number of informative screen shots showing us how to use both systems. Venmo is an app that allows a transfer of funds from your bank account to our bank account, while sending the appropriate information to our Treasurer. Rumor has it that it can also be used for those splitting-the-check situations. Meet is a Google product that is part of a system that also allows us to share documents (like the meeting agenda) easily. This was another instance of “you shoulda been there”. We're hoping that we can use DALE's screen shots to create a instructions-for-dummies for the rest of us to peruse at our leisure.

The District Convention is looming on the horizon, Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12, at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. You can find information on registering on the District web site. Click on the Convention button on the menu at the top of the page. Every Lion should attend a District Convention, you'll learn a lot about being a Lion.
