Next Meeting - Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Noon. By Zoom, as required by today's circumstances, with Pres. DALE presiding. It is, by schedule, a Program Meeting, and BECKY FRAIRE has started a series of programs about our present individual Lion Members, revolving around a “What you don't know about me” question that she recently asked of all of us in the course of her Tail Twister duties. Zoom on in to find out who the Special Lion is this week.

Our intrepid Highway Cleanup crew, consisting of MIKE, LINDA, ROSS, JOHN and DALE, swept their strip clean a couple Saturdays back. It was 34 degrees when they set out. No report of anything unusual or valuable, just the usual junk. They did, for the first time, find a couple of face masks. Notably absent, SCOTT GROVER, who up to now has never missed one of these items but was under the weather that day. He has been functional since, and hopefully is recovering from whatever it was. These days, even the suggestion of illness sets off alarm bells. The reference to bells no doubt springs from a previous plague, when infected pedestrians were required to wear a bell and ring it when social distancing would be required.

We can't report on the activities at the last regularly scheduled meeting, because there wasn't one. Over the years, convergence of circumstances caused meetings to be cancelled, and this last was one of them. No big deal, but not enough kindling to start a fire that day, and the guy who usually strikes the match couldn't Zoom, either. He probably ran out of matches and lighter fluid.

If you just want to listen to Lion noise, go to Facebook and dial up the Lions Global Forum. It is a discussion group, originated by a small group of Lions including Pres.DALE and PP JODI, and there is a lot of comment about what Lions Clubs are doing now and what they may look like in the future. If you've been a member for a long time, though, you might not want to bother. “Senior Lions” is a term of contempt in a great many posts. It's amazing that we've gotten as far as we have, but times do change. For instance, the Editor has never seen a sleeve garter at a meeting, even in hot weather.

Participate in the upcoming Zoom meeting, so we'll have more to report on in the next Lions Tale. Don't know how to Zoom, yet? Call your grandchildren.
