Next Meeting - Tuesday July 16, 2019, on the Mezz at Festival Foods, at 11:30 AM as usual. This is our Program Meeting for July, and the scheduled speaker is our new District Governor, Conrad Dreyer. The DG is our prime contact for everything Lionistic - he will probably tell us what the areas of emphasis are for the next Lion year, along with some of the achievements of the year just ended. We are early on the DG's visit schedule, so we will get one of the first looks at what's going on, and what's about to start going on. It would help to have a good numbers of our members present - please try to be there. The Editor thinks that we still have some globe-trotters out there, looking at Italy and other European areas, following attendance at the Lions International Convention in Milan. We do know that Canadian Dr. Patti Hill was elected 3rd Vice President, with the enthusiastic support of our PDG and PCC JODI.

News item from the Wisconsin State Convention - BETTY INGWELL was named Lioness of the Year at the Convention. A fitting reward for years of tireless service to Lions and Lionesses activities.

Our last meeting, attended by only a few non-international travelers and non-golfers, produced one item of news, not particularly welcome: the trip to visit Lions Camp, scheduled for August, has been canceled/postponed until next year. Apparently scheduling difficulties proved too hard to overcome.

There was discussion of two of our sometime projects, the Raffle fundraiser and the Stuff The Bus effort to collect school supplies for needy kids. Because of the small attendance, no real conclusions were reached on either one. It was noted that the Raffle was one of our few remaining fundraisers, but is suffering because of a lack of venues/activities at which to sell tickets. Members who take tickets and return them unsold deprive the Club of needed revenue. The Editor observes that the principal Bus-Stuffer, Lion JODI BURMESTER, is touring Italy on a well-deserved post LCI Convention vacation, so maybe that one will still be picked up somehow after she returns. It is a little hard for some Lions to realize that there is a significant number of kids in our schools who don't have the basics like pencils, notebooks and the ubiquitous backpacks but maybe one statistic will help: nearly half the students in the Madison Public Schools are eligible for government-sponsored meals!

News from Kansas: We have word from Dennis Ureche, Past VP of Madison Central and current President of the Inman, Kansas Lions Club, that they raised over $9,500.00 USD at a pancake breakfast benefit for an Inman resident with very expensive medical problems! A great job by a former MCLC Lion! We Serve!

Meticulous readers will note that this is the first issue of the Lions Tale of the year, and the small admission by the Publisher that he is not so good at higher Latin math.
