Our Business Meeting for April, and there is business as usual. Rose Day is imminent, and we need all the orders in by this Thursday, so we can place our order with Felley's. You can tell that's important, because it's underlined.

A Melvin Jones Fellowship is on the meeting agenda already, and there are rumors that there may even be more than one. This is the highest recognition in Lionism for an individual, and is bestowed by the Lions International Foundation upon nomination (and donation) by a Lions Club. It is a recognition of the recipient's valued service, to Lions and/or community.

The formal election of Club officers for the upcoming Lion Year will be held. The slate of current nominees is as follows:

Note that three positions are still unfilled. Nominations can be made at this time, and we need somebody to step forward into those spots.

Highway Cleanup is scheduled for April 27. The snow should be gone by then.

The speaker at the last meeting was Monica Wagner from “Forward Madison”, the name of the new USL pro soccer team just formed in Madison. It is a “19 and over” team of players hoping to play their way into a spot with a full-time major league soccer team, and they will play 17 games at Breese Stevens Field this coming summer. The stadium has been further modernized for this new occupant, and it will be Madison's first professional soccer experience. They have adopted Leon Varjian's famous pink flamingo as part of their logo. As is the case with most minor league sports teams, they have an affiliation with a major league team, in this case Minnesota, based in the Twin Cities. Today's version of Andy Pafko, the Madison Blues and Chicago Cubs in baseball many years ago, which was noted in a recent Tale.
