Next Meeting - Tuesday, March 19, 2019, on the Mezz at Festival Foods, at 11:30 AM as usual. Our Program Meeting for March, and CRAIG BUTLER is bringing us Monica Wagner from the Mallards and Forward Madison - the new soccer team playing at Breese Stevens field. Since they are right next door to Festival Foods and they have been in the news lately, he thought we could have someone tell us more about what they are doing. They have some cool plans for the inside that not everyone has seen yet.

Your editor can recall Andy Pafko, later a regular for years for the Chicago Cubs, playing in Madison Blues baseball on Breese Stevens field, with a right field fence like the Green Monster in left at Fenway Park, with occasional home runs over the fence landing in East Washington Avenue. No recollection of any that hit a vehicle, but likely they did now and then. Soccer at least does not present over-the-fence situations.

At our last meeting, VP DALE BURMESTER presided, opening the meeting with Words about Mardi Gras and New Orleans. Relevance to us not clear to this reporter. The TT was not present, so there were only the usual conversations.

There was business to be done/reported on. We are in the middle of our March stint as Tissue Transporters for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin, so those on the volunteer list for that project should be alert for mission assignments. This is one of the signature things we do, and if you are one of those who yearns for hands-on projects this one is outstanding. “Because of what we do today, someone will see tomorrow.” Enough said. SCOTT GROVER is the one to talk to if you want to help.

Rose Day is one of our Club's signature projects, and a principal source of service funds for years. Delivery day is April 22, and order blanks are available at meetings and on our Club website. Price and product generally similar to last year.

There is a vision screening scheduled for March 29. Details, and the opportunity to participate in another important hands-on project, are available from SCOTT GROVER. These opportunities are more numerous than they used to be, so if you'd like to really be part of the action in the potential saving of some kid's vision, see or talk to SCOTT.

State Convention is May 17-19, in Wisconsin Dells. Among other things, it is the culmination of JODI's year-long campaign for International Director, so you should be there to participate.

We are also in the process of selecting our Club officers for the '19-'20 Lions Year, and we need Candidates for Vice President and Director. This is your chance to influence the course of events for our Club, so step up and help lead.
