Next Meeting - Tuesday, Aug. 21, on the Mezz at Festival Foods, at 11:30 AM as usual. This our program meeting for August, and you should not miss it. Our own WENDY DWYER will be there with her new Leader Dog, whose name is Mukwa, and we will hear the story of how they became a team. Our Club has long supported the Leader Dog (Michigan) organization, and now we get a first-hand account of how it works.

Our last get-together was the Summer Bags Tournament, which didn't have a huge crowd but did provide fun for those who were there. Three of the prizewinners donated their prizes back to our Service Fund, and some stayed for the afterparty, which would have been our Summer Social if more than a handful of Lions had showed up. The Editor arrived at 6:15, just in time to be headed off at the driveway entrance by the departing Chairwoman, as the few who were there had already gone home. The raffle did well - preliminary figures are for a profit of about $1,100.

Undaunted, our Bags Tournament managers are already aiming for another one in the Fall, which is almost on our doorstep already. If Aaron Rodgers is wearing pads, Fall is close at hand.

Our last meeting had a huge attendance of 15, including Sammie Carothers, SCOTT GROVER'S granddaughter, as a guest. Please, those who were there, remember the way you got there and follow it again.

The Scavenger Hunt is next weekend, Saturday, Aug 25. Chairwoman KATI PARADIS needs volunteers, and at the next meeting we will hopefully get more specifics, like where, what time, and to do what. All of the locations are set and ready, and it will end up in a park.

Fighting Childhood Cancer has been added to the list of major projects worldwide by LCI, and there is an initiative right here in Wisconsin. A very promising line of treatment has been discovered, and it requires a key piece of medical equipment which costs about $200,000 USD. LCIF has awarded a matching grant of $100,00 to our Multiple District 27 to help get this equipment for the Medical College of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Lions have until Dec. 31 to raise our half. More info is coming - we will have a program on it in September.
