Next Meeting - Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Festival Foods on East Washington Avenue. Parking entrance on E. Washington westbound only, or from the alley in back of the store which is reached by either Patterson or Livingston Streets. An alley? In Madison? Who knew?

The program, obtained by LINDA BERGREN, is Hannah Becker from the River Food Pantry. She has a power point about the new River Pantry future and would like to share the help needed at the pantry (especially at Thanksgiving.) Linda will not be there but her husband David will introduce her to the club.

Your Editor missed the last meeting while attending to a home maintenance issue, so what follows is from the pen of Ace Reporter SCOTT GROVER. (This means you can rely on it - the Man of Many Hats does not deal in “fake news”.)

We started our meeting with the TaleTwister asking each of us to write our greatest fear on a piece of paper. More to come on that. In a return to past practices, we did our pledge, flag supplied by TT ADAM, but there were no invocations or words of wisdom. Apparently, someone was moved to action by the recent activities around the playing of the national anthem at sporting events. In a return to past practices, we did our pledge, flag supplied by TT ADAM, but there were no invocations or words of wisdom. Apparently, someone was moved to action by the recent activities around the playing of the national anthem at sporting events. Later in the meeting, ADAM read our greatest fears, and we had to guess who belonged to them. Interesting, but this reporter missed the fine. Surprisingly, no one's fear was being singled out by the TT for a fine.

Our newest member, KATI PARADIS, was introduced, and DG JODI did the induction. ADAM, KATI's sponsor, declined to assist with the pinning.

In a report on the upcoming Bags tournament (November 4, at Headquarters in Oregon), we learned that only one team has registered so far. Not to worry, the last successful tournament had over half of the teams show up the day of without pre-registering. DALE is organizing volunteers - contact him to secure a task.

DG JODI told us of the upcoming “Madison Membership Meeting” workshop on November 5. The emphasis will be on recruiting for either a “online” club or a club devoted to Diabetes. It was noted that LCI has no clue about how urban clubs work. The idea of proselytizing at Farmers Market was suggested again.

The next Zone meeting will be in Cross Plains.

Combat Blindness International is supposedly trying to get a mandate for children's vision screening (not sure if that was local, state, or national). Some school districts seem to be opposed to allowing Lions to do free screenings, reasons unknown.

We were requested to make donations for Christmas Stockings for Madison vets, and a list of items was sent to members - things like toothbrushes, socks, books, and so on. Collected materials can be taken to the American Legion Post 501, 105 Dempsey Rd. or call 422-0100 and we pick up your donations. Cash donations are also accepted to buy more items for the stockings.

The Oregon/Brooklyn club will be doing a highway cleanup on October 7 (later changed to a dryer October 8), starting at the White Rock. Mentioning the White Rock always seems to pique curiosity. Remember that Google is our friend. Our own highway cleanup is coming soon, and appropriate days will be discussed at our next meeting.

We were relayed thanks from the winners of the Packers/Bears tickets.
