Next Meeting — June 20, 2017. At the Coliseum Restaurant and Bar, at high noon. When you arrive, you'll get a pleasant surprise. No more scrambling for raffle tickets on what you get for lunch - they're now letting us order off the menu. No 20 oz. steaks allowed! Apparently the CR&B has new owners. Our Treasurer picks up the bill (and will invoice you later at our established rate).

Speaker for this meeting will be Dr. Joseph Eichenseher. He is a family physician and associate UW faculty member in Madison that belongs to a national organization of 20,000 physicians working for healthcare reform- PNHP (Physicians for National Healthcare Program). It is a non-partisan organization striving for an improved system that covers all Americans more efficiently, similar to the systems found throughout the rest of the developed world. Certainly a hot topic these days, and one we all should probably know a lot more about.

The last meeting consisted of a small but determined group of Lions. No bell was needed to start the meeting, because most of those present could reach it from where they were sitting but no one really wanted to. A review of our Lion calendar noted that July has some items on it already. The first item is actually a non-item - THERE WILL BE NO MEETING ON JULY 4, for the obvious reason that it is a national holiday. Make sure you have your flag out, and be careful with the firecrackers.

Additional July items are our Summer Bags Tournament on July 15 at the Coliseum Bar. Last we knew, DALE BURMESTER needed more volunteer help for this one. Help him out, and help us attract some attention and make some money for our service work.

The promised Summer Social is set to go. We have a room reserved at Vitense GolfLand on AUGUST 1 (that's a Tuesday), with a patio door to the outside so if the weather is good we can go out, and if it should rain we will be nicely inside and out of it. LINDA BERGREN is putting it together and there will be more details, but anticipate a starting time around 5-5:30, finger food and munchies and such, and a cash bar close by. Of course, if you want to get started early, there is the Par 3 golf course, the driving range, and for the real athletes a mini-golf layout. We have another Summer Raffle in the works, and the prize draw may be at the Social.

A lot of good conversation and Lion fellowship at the last meeting. Make sure you come to the next one to make your contributions!
