Next Meeting - Feb. 16, 2016. At the Coliseum Restaurant and Bar. At noon. As usual. ADAM GRASSNICKLE is the Program Host, and he will introduce Phil Anderson, General Manager of Green Cab. Mr. Anderson will talk about the effect the new enterprise Lyft is having on the traditional taxi service, particularly the disabled community, here in Madison, which should be interesting. Certainly there are questions about this new type of “service.”

At our last meeting ...... nothing happened, because there was no Last Meeting. It was to have been a joint meeting with the Winners Circle Lions Club for their Charter Night, but a menacing weather forecast forced a postponement to April. We'll take another run at it then.

SCOTT GROVER, otherwise known as the Man With Many Hats, reminds us that March is one of our Eye Tissue Transport months. This is one of the most important things we do, perhaps the most important service activity in the state of Wisconsin, “because of what I do today, someone will see tomorrow.” We are the operating force by which donated eye tissue gets from the donor to the Eye Bank to a recipient. If you are on our list of transporters, check your info and be ready for the phone call. If you're not on the list but would like to be, talk to SCOTT.

We have a new project coming up, which certainly would have been talked about at the last meeting if there'd been one - our Beanbags/Bags/Cornhole Tournament, scheduled to take place at the Coliseum Restaurant and Bar on Saturday, Feb. 20. The following description is from the Man Of All Information SCOTT GROVER:

For those of you who don't know what we're talking about... (which until now included the Editor):

Cornhole, also known as dummy boards, bean bag toss, dadhole, doghouse, Baggo, or simply Bags, is an American lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches the score of 21. [Wikipedia]

Our Tournament, Saturday 2/20, has Registration ($25.00 per team of two, men, women, coed - in advance or $30.00 day of event) and practice time at 1:00 PM and formally begins at 2:00 PM. It's at our regular meeting place at the Coliseum Bar, and refreshments will be available. Proceeds go to MCLC's Service Fund. At this time of year, it's a lawn game by description only, but one of the good things about it is that you can set up the target equipment just about anywhere. And the projectiles do not endanger the spectators. If you know a couple people that make a good team, invite them to participate. It's a chance to have some fun, enjoy a little competition, and partake of a few refreshments. And if you want to volunteer, please, talk to VP KEVIN OLSEN.
