Next Meeting - Tuesday, May 5. Noon, at the Coliseum Bar. Our Business Meeting for the month of May. Pres. JACK will preside, and no doubt we will have some business to discuss. Golf Outing, Rose Day, Vision Screening, Highway Cleanup, etc. etc. Maybe more. Come and find out what's been going on, what's about to go on, and maybe speculate on what else might go on in the future. One local Lions Club, Madison Evening, has closed down, and the one in Waunakee is changing its name, which no one will notice unless they live in Westport, and maybe not even then.

At our last meeting, Pres. JACK led the proceedings. The TailTwister didn't make it (he may have lost his marbles), but we saw at least two marbles at the meeting. Maybe next week. Tax Day being safely past, CHARLIE and TRISH LIBERTY reappeared, which was welcome.

Save Sight Night at the Mallards will be Friday, June 19. Game time 7:05pm. $15 gets you a ticket to the game, a hat, and makes a $5.00 donation to Lions. We are told that tickets for the Duck Pond (food and drink) are available. JODI BURMESTER has the info. She also reported that Stuff The Bus will be held on Aug. 8. New locations are planned.

Highway Cleanup was to have been on April 25 May 2. We'll hear more about that one.

MELISSA NOVINSKI made her usual meticulous report on Rose Day. We pulled it off again, and the delivery portion went well. Unit sales were down, but our projected net profit for our Service Fund is $3172, about 11% below last year. Star salespersons were ROSS ROYSTER ($1160), CRAIG BUTLER ($1105), DAN STOUDT ($975), MELISSA NOVINSKI, DAVE (former Lion, still loyal to the cause) MIES, MICHELLE VETTERKIND, JIM SCHUTZ, KEVIN OLSET, JOHN JENSEN and TOM STEVENS. A dozen other Lions made smaller sales or donations, so most of our membership was in on this one.

We had a stellar delivery crew who really moved the merchandise - LINDA BERGREN and David York, STEVE BRIGGS, JODI BURMESTER, CRAIG BUTLER, SCOTT GROVER, JOHN JENSON, PHIL INGWELL, CHARLIE & TRISH LIBERTY, Doug Mahaffey, MELISSA NOVINSKI, KEVIN OLSEN, WALT PRIDHAM, ROSS ROYSTER, JIM SCHUTZ, TOM STEVENS, DAN and Bernie STOUDT, and MICHELLE VETTERKIND. The Rose Day Committee was KEVIN OLSEN, LINDA BERGREN, SCOTT GROVER and MELISSA (the unflappable Warehouse Manager) NOVINSKI.

Nominations were made for next year's Club officers, and all nominees were unanimously elected: President, MIKE KNOWLTON, VP, KEVIN OLSEN, Secretary JOHN JENSON, Treasurer SCOTT GROVER, Membership Director CRAIG BUTLER, TailTwister JACK HEIM, and Directors JEFF SCHNEIDER and LINDA BERGREN.

Our Golf Outing is Mon. May 18, at Cherokee. Most of all, we need more golfers to play. Hole Sponsorships are also available. The Dinner will follow the completion of play, and you are welcome to come for dinner and fellowship if you can't make the golf part. There will be a great raffle, only 250 tickets, $10 each/3 for $25, with Packer, Brewer and Badger tickets among the prizes. LINDA BERGREN is in charge, and she has information, raffle tickets, and will take the necessary reservation if you are coming only for dinner.

Our speaker for the day was Cross Plains Lion JOHN DIXON, one of the two Wisconsin Lions Foundation Directors from our area, introduced by JOHN JENSON. Lion DIXON filled us in on the areas of service for WLF: Diabetes Awareness (an informational DVD is available), Vision Screening, Hearing (donations of used hearing aids gratefully received, which result in voucher credits against the cost of new aids for recipients in need of assistance), Lions Camp, and Youth Service (Lions Quest and Youth Exchanges.) As a Lion, you are serving in a lot of ways, some of which you may not even have known or thought about. We all know about Lions Camp, but if you haven't been there in the last few years you should take another look, because improvements are made every year. There are Visitation Days scattered throughout the Camp season, on Wednesdays, so if you'd like to see it, contact the Camp Office for a reservation, because tours are scheduled and limited to numbers who can properly see what's going on.
