Next Meeting - Tuesday, July 15, noon at the Sheraton as usual. Presidents, especially new ones, generally have some interests and concerns to talk about, so we can expect some reports, proposals and commentary from Pres. JACK. Presumably McGee will take the opportunity to snooze under the table as a good dog should.

One very big item of business will be the Lions Birthday Celebration, led by new Chairperson DEBBIE MAHAFFEY. Since a couple of months have slipped by without a party, we will hold what will probably be the biggest Lion Birthday ever, covering the months of February, March, April, May, June and July. This will be close to half the Club membership, close only because in the olden days October was Membership Month, and so a disproportionate number of Lions have birthdays in the Fall. What we are really celebrating, of course, is the years of service these Lions have given to their community. Lions to be recognized this time are: SCOTT GROVER, LINDA BERGREN, SPARKY WATTS, JODI BURMESTER, PHIL STOWITTS, ROSS ROYSTER, JIM BRADLEY, RICH MATZELLE, PHIL INGWELL JIM RUNDELL, TERRY SCHAR, GAIL STIRR, JACK HEIM, TOM STEVENS, MICHELLE VETTERKIND, STEVE BRIGGS, GREG MILLER, JIM SCHUTZ, JIM KEMMETER and DAN STOUDT. That's quite a pride of Lions, and if everybody comes, with gift, we will have a really big drawing! Not to mention a record attendance for the year. Let's have everyone that can, show up. If you are not motivated by Lion service, and/or scintillating conversation, come for your share of the loot. (Note to the rookie TT - previous TTs have levied a "delivery charge" on drawing winners. You have to be quick on your feet, tho.) (For those who cavil at this blatant tip to a TT, it is a long-and- deservedly-forgotten fact that the Editor is a former TT. Get used to it.)

At the last meeting, Pres. JACK, (unhindered by the fact that almost all present were still munching because he pretended not to notice) opened the meeting promptly, and ROSS ROYSTER filled an invocation gap with one of his concise but pertinent one-liners.

July project is helping the Salvation Army ring the kettle bells on July 17th, Thursday, at HyVee West, on Whitney Way. Looked as tho we have all but one shift filled with two Lions each - check with LINDA to make sure. Note the change from the original location.

Our August project will be Stuff The Bus (with school supplies). Donation day will be Saturday August 9, and the sorting and packing will be done a week later, on Saturday, Aug. 16. Many hands will be needed, so put those two on your calendar for August.

Pres. JACK would like all Lions to be on committees of their choice, and so committee sign-up sheets will be circulated at the next meeting. Pick a job or two that you like, and let's get on with it!

SCOTT GROVER noted that our Club Budget(s) are posted on the web site, so you can see where the money goes. He also reported that most of our eyeglass referrals now come from Porchlight, which tells us that we are assisting adults, and not children. The school nurses don't seem to call us any more.

We had the earliest final report ever on our Flower Sale from MELISSA NOVINSKI. We netted $3571 for our service funds, which was about 4.7% below last year.
