Next Meeting - Tuesday, June 3rd, 12:00 noon, at the Sheraton. June already! We've had our day or two of Spring, and now comes Summer. But Lions never rest - we have our usual business meeting coming up. We've had more than a few things going on lately, so there should be a good round of reports, and we'll probably find out that there is a thing or two left to do.

Next year's Officers and Directors will be installed at the next meeting. Yes, we do this every year, and there is a certain familiarity with the process. However, these are the Lions who keep our Club going, who plan and direct our projects, and maintain the framework within which our activities are carried out. They do the grunt work, and deserve thanks, and help, from all of us.

The grand combination of Golf, Social and Club Meeting event came off well. The golfers didn't get rained out, fortunately, and we hear that the food and drink were good. There was a good group at the Social dinner. The raffle was successfully completed, and although none of the winners were present they have all been notified and tickets for the closer events sent out. We know there were golf prizes, because we have heard that some of the winners had friends in high places, but since no one cheats at golf, that had nothing to do with it. We also know there was a chipping contest because DEBBIE MAHAFFEY's husband Doug ran it for us, but we don't know who won. Probably find that out at the next meeting. There hasn't been anything in the professional newspapers, so nobody broke the course record, or had a hole-in-one. And nobody saw any alligators on the Cherokee course.

We have apparently pulled off two pretty good fund raisers in our Flower Sale and the Raffle. That's good, because the more money we can raise, the more good we can do. Profuse thanks are due to those who planned and executed those two. If anyone has any bright ideas, or has seen some other thing(s) we might do, be sure to let a Board member know.

OK, you all got the LION magazine in the last day or two, and of course you read the entire 55 pages, detailing the service activities of Lions all around the world. You didn't? Quick, before the recycling truck comes, run out and get it back. Page through it, and you'll find some more inspiration from what Lions are doing. And be sure you get to page 48, where careful reading will reveal something from a familiar character around here. It's a great big world, and there are millions of Lions, and we do have our own “backyard.” See what's in it.

Hopefully, either the outgoing or the incoming TailTwister will be able to discern who reads the Lions Tale, and who reads the LION. Not that the Editor would presume to tell them what to do or anything but there should be some penalty for omitting this essential activity other than abysmal ignorance.

Three Simple Rules In Life

1. If you do not GO after what you want, you'll never have it.

2. If you do not ASK, the answer will always be NO.

3. If you do not step forward, you'll always be in the same place.

Upcoming Project: We have a project coming soon - on June 16, we will be assisting with food service at the Concert in the Park, at Warner Park. Plan to be there at 4:30, and plan to leave by 7:00. This is an easy project, requires only good social skills and no great physical prowess. And, it's fun! Volunteer on the signup sheet at Tuesday's meeting.
