Next Meeting - AT NOON! -Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Sheraton. Our guest speaker will be an old friend, Past President RANDY “JABO” JABLONIC, a great Lion, an entertaining speaker, a legendary coach of the UW Rowing Team. He was our Club President the last time we moved our meeting place (to the Edgewater) and when we welcomed our first woman member. (Who was sponsored by WALT PRIDHAM, if the Editor's memory is right.) He will probably talk about all of the above, but whatever the subject of the moment, don't miss this program!

Pres. LINDA opened the last meeting, which ran from 7AM to 8AM as promised. Eight Lions were present, and we need more. There was a good report on the Highway Cleanup, our Project of the Month for October. The crew covered the assigned area in good time, picked up a lot of bottles and golf balls, (Golf balls? On a highway?) and a few auto parts, and had a good time doing it.

Our November project is the Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army. Pres. LINDA arranged for us to staff the kettle at the Sears entrance in West Towne Mall on December 6th, and we already have at least one volunteer for all but one of the five shifts. It helps a lot to have at least two Lions for each shift, and LINDA has the schedule, so give her a call or sign up for a slot at next Tuesday's meeting. There are several initiatives for Diabetes Awareness going on or under consideration, and this is a likely future Project of the Month.

The Holiday Treats Sale orders should be ready to be picked up at our next meeting. Please be sure to be there to get yours, because we don't have Steve Keip's office as a depot any more, and LINDA's car can hold only so many. If you can't make the meeting, try to get another Lion to pick yours up for you, or call LINDA to work out a way to get them.

SCOTT GROVER says that there are still a good number of slots to fill for the Kohl Center Concession stand. The more shifts our Club members can work, the greater amount of the profits come our way for our Service Fund. Sign up on the web, or contact SCOTT directly.

Our Holiday Party, which will celebrate our Club's 90th Anniversary, will be on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Sheraton. Cocktails at 5:00 PM, dinner at 6:00, program at 7:00. Holiday music. Invitations have already gone out on the internet, and if you don't have web access, this is your invitation. Cost is $25.00 per person, and Pres. LINDA is taking the reservations. RSVP to LINDA by Monday, Nov. 26.

We are told that Past President JIM KEMMETER is at the St. Mary's Care Center on Maple Grove, and is able to have visitors. Best days for visiting are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday, avoiding mealtimes (8:30, 12:30, 6:00). Apparently his phone doesn't work, so just drop in and see him. He will be there indefinitely, receiving treatment.

See you next Tuesday. Don't miss the chance to see and hear JABO.
