Next Time - The speaker for our meeting on April 7 will be Vince Sweeney, Senior Associate Athletic Director at the UW. He will give us an update on UW athletics. There's a lot going on, including the prospects for the next football season, both on the field and in the stands, so it should be interesting. JIM BRADLEY is the Program Host. Your editor remembers both the faithful 5000 at the Field House, and the Stuhldreher, Coatta and Morton eras at Camp Randall, so these are exciting times. He also remembers saying, about 20 years ago "I'm tired of sending the boys out to play the men. If we're going to play in this league, then let's do what you have to do to play in this league." (Actually, your editor also remembers when a guy named HAL OTTERBACK played tackle for the Badgers, but that's a story in itself!)

Rose Bowl! - Not the one in Pasadena, ours! We're well in to the 2nd half, deadline for your sales forecast is yesterday, orders need to be in by April 4 if at all possible, and delivery day is Mon. April 20. The distribution center will be at the Edgewater, and delivery drivers are needed, particularly first thing in the morning, like 8:00 or 8:30. We don't have much leeway in supply this year, so JERRY HODDINOTT needs to know how many you're going to sell ahead of time. As always, FILL OUT THE FORM COMPLETELY, PARTICULARLY THE DELIVERY DIRECTIONS. It saves all kinds of time and trouble if the Lion making the delivery knows exactly where they're going. Particularly in big buildings and new subdivisions! If you sell by credit card, get ALL the numbers, including the three special ones on the back of the card that are needed.

The District Convention - went well, and our DG JOHN JENSON thanked our Prez. JODI BURMESTER for her large part in the organizing and operation of the meeting. The new District Governor on July 1 will be RICK DALUGE of the Madison West Lions. The State (Multiple District) Convention will be at Chula Vista at Wisconsin Dells on May 14 though 16. Our Club received an award from the Wisconsin Lions Foundation in recognition of our financial support.

Lion Birthdays - were celebrated at the last meeting, and almost everyone was there. Except one reluctant Lion who shall be nameless but reads this BULLetin, and the chairperson, who was forced by the exigencies of business to be in Orlando rather than cold and wet Madison. Led by fill-in chairperson LINDA BERGREN (who even has to manage her own party) we recognized the years of service of: PHIL INGWELL, 42; RICH MATZELLE, (present by proxy, and as always, a gift) 38; JIM BRADLEY, 32; ROSS ROYSTER, 28; JODI BURMESTER, 16; LINDA BERGREN, 13; SCOTT GROVER, 9; LOUISE FRITZ, 5; and SUE SABIN, 2. Winners of the gift drawings were: BOB BOHN, JODI BURMESTER, JERRY HODDINOTT, BRIAN RAEMISCH (guest visitor from the Waunakee-Westport Lions), PHIL STOWITTS, MELISSA ABBOTT, JIM SCHUTZ, LINDA BERGREN and SUE SABIN.

Leaders of the last meeting - Pres. JODI presided, JIM SCHUTZ led the song at a pace Mike Leckrone would have approved, and SCOTT GROVER, who, deprived of his usual preparation by surprise, improvised admirably on the invocation. The above-mentioned BRIAN RAEMISCH was JODI's guest.

Reports: Sec. JOHN JENSON says we have 49 members, Treas. MELISSA ABBOTT handed out the dues statements and said that, not surprisingly, our Service Fund income was behind budget, so we need to make an effort on the flower sales, and Membership Chairman CRAIG BUTLER says that recent guest John Heim from the UW will be joining us. Make him welcome when he comes! SCOTT GROVER reported 15 eye tissue transporting missions in our area so far in March. " Because of what we do today, someone will see tomorrow."
