TaleTwister's Jackpot
$470

Next luncheon meeting will be May 2, and our speaker will be our own Melissa Abbott.

Our resourceful TaleTwister ROSS ROYSTER took station at the beginning of the buffet line, and dunned each of us with a plate tax. However, he included a free bonus raffle ticket with the plate.

President CHUCK BASFORD distributed a copy of our Club brochure, noting that the Board has been working long and hard to bring this to fruition. He encouraged everyone present to give their brochure to a prospective member. If you need more copies, don't forget that it is available right here on the Club web site. Song Meister OTTO FESTE led us in song, and this time everyone knew the words., Our invocation was delivered succinctly by TOM STEVENS. (Our Invocations Chair, Bishop BOHN, is looking for the proper pious person to relieve him. Talk to BOB if you're interested.)

President CHUCK plugged the Calendar (here's the link for that). Rose Day, of course is coming up next week. Rose Chair DON NEVIASER reminded us that Rose Day orders MUST be turned in by Friday, April 21. Delivery routes will be put together on Sunday, April 23 at the Stark office on Old Sauk at 1:30. Show up and help if you're so inclined. Deliveries will start on Monday, April 24, after 7:30 at the Community Room at Zimbrick (just off the Beltline at Fish Hatchery and Greenway Cross). PHIL STOWITTS volunteered to assist with replacement deliveries, and we hope he will not be busy. Remember, this is our biggest single fund-raiser, and your last opportunity to sell for the Lions for some time. Think Roses! There's a Work Day scheduled for Lions Camp at Rosholt for April 29. If you'd like to go, contact CHUCK. The State Convention will be on May 19 and 20, right in our back yard in Middleton. The emphasis will be on Youth. Everyone from Madison Central should attend. And our Club Golf Outing will be in June. STEVE BRIGGS noted that the outing was scheduled for a luncheon day, and was admonished that this has been regular practice; however, the Board met later and listened to his advice. The Golf Outing will be on June 13, and we will have a regular luncheon meeting on June 6.

TailTwister ROSS asked our speaker to draw a winning ticket for the raffle, and DON NEVIASER requested to be picked - and he was! However, DON failed to find the Joker, so the pot grows larger.

CHUCK introduced our speaker, Arthur Ross, the Pedestrian/Bicycle Coordinator for the City of Madison. Art produced a remarkably small projector, and told us that Madison has been named Best City for Biking in the 200-500,000 population range by Bicycle Magazine. Madison's goal is to minimize conflicts between different modes of transportation. Art illustrated all of the connections by bike path now available to us. There is a benefit to providing room for biking. Madison is continually planning for the future, as well. And providing parking for bikes is necessary.

CHUCK concluded our meeting, reminding us that Governor Doyle would be signing two bills relating to service dogs at the Wisconsin Council of the Blind on Wednesday.
